NIKE PEGASUS 42
CAN IT STILL CUT THE MUSTARD?
Have there really been 42 versions of the Pegasus? It’s certainly been around nearly as long as I have, a gunmetal grey pair with a navy swoosh was one of the first shoes I owned when I started running, no idea what version that might have been.
Anyway, it really needs no introduction, it has been and still is the mainstay of the NIke range.

So, SHOULD YOU BUY THEM?
There’s no doubt the Pegasus will sell, there are enough fans out there who have bought the last 10 versions and will probably buy the next 10 too. But, is it really that good?
I think of these almost as a VW Beetle, legendary status, loyal following but step from a Beetle into a modern car and the difference is staggering, the world has moved on.
Plenty think the Pegasus range peaked at about version 36. And it’s not so much that the Pegasus has got worse, it’s that other brands have long since moved on and offer better performance at a more competitive price.
Will I buy them? Even as a Nike ‘fan’ it’s highly unlikely, even on the weight alone.
There’s no denying they look pretty good though!
